Description

Position Summary :
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the day-to-day inbound/outbound activities, site management and maintenance, regulation compliance, certified body site inspections, and overall safety of the London, Ontario Canada warehouse. This position will supervise a team of warehouse personnel to ensure the provision of a professional incoming goods, storage, and dispatch to customers, encompassing both accuracy and speed. In addition, the Warehouse Manager will implement continuous improvement in warehouse and shipping procedures to maximize shipping effectiveness and efficiency in day-to- day operations.

Major Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Supervises personnel at the warehouse for accountability, performance, and productivity and provides feedback, coaching, and training, as necessary.
  • Manage the day-to-day duties including outbound/inbound activities, inventory control, budget control, invoices, staffing decisions and employee development.
  • Ensure safety, quality and productivity goals are met, and ensure that employees have a positive working environment.
  • Assist in the selection of transportation services and the day-to-day management of these services.
  • Create and maintain schedules and job assignments of department teammates.
  • Conduct routine departmental business and distribution safety meetings.
  • Collaborate with all other departments (Inventory Planning, Manufacturing, Customer Care, Transportation companies, Commercial, etc.)
  • Serve on and drive the following administrative committee and safety functions:

    • Implement effective checklist and preventive maintenance for Housekeeping, Safety Committee, lift truck training, and warehouse safety training.
  • Lead and maintain a clean, professional, and safe working environment.
  • Identify and communicate performance issues or operational needs with the Logistics Operations Manager.
  • Enforcement of company rules on safety, housekeeping, attendance, and security.
  • Identify areas of improvement, cost initiatives and establish innovative or adjust existing work procedures and practices.
  • Develop a team environment that values diversity and uses various individual’s strengths to improve team performance.
  • Provide input in the administration of performance appraisals, safety reports, monthly operational reports, weekly activity reports, and accident reports.
  • Checks emails on a scheduled basis while keeping the priority on spending time on the floor with employees.
  • Ensure that all required training is identified and completed by all direct reports.
  • Assists in the recruitment, hiring, promoting, and terminating processes as needed.
  • Assist in daily operational activities and operates forklift equipment as needed.
  • Keeps equipment and tools operating by enforcing operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; requiring preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Organize and ensure accurate and periodic cycle counts and stock takes.
  • Maintain customer’s confidence by keeping confidential information.
  • Update personal job knowledge and education certificates by participating in educational opportunities, corporate training, and reading professional publications.
  • Accomplish company mission statement by completing expected tasks when required.
  • Additional responsibilities as requested or required.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as required.

  • Required Education :
    High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years of previous warehouse experience in a leadership/supervisory role.

Required Skills & Experience :

  • Ability to perform all functions in area of supervision (i.e., assist, monitor, coach, manage conflict, performance improvement plan implementation, discipline, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional manner, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside of the organization
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated success in problem-solving and decision-making to overcome obstacles and maximize opportunities.
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong working knowledge of distribution center operations.
  • Ability to safely lift, push or pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to work independently without the need for direction.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Packages, Inventory software, Internet Explorer
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must pass background screening, drug test and reference checks.
  • Must be forklift certified or have the ability to be forklift certified.
  • Must be dependable, reliable and thorough in work performed.
  • Ability to stand/bend for extended periods of time.
  • Capable of being entrusted with company assets and confidential information.

Preferred Skills, Experience & Education : - Familiar with lean manufacturing preferred - Familiar with the Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) - Technical and Mechanical background. - Ability to travel independently throughout airports and roads. About Joerns :
