About the role
As the Head of Logistics, Supply Chain & Distribution, you will oversee the end‑to‑end logistics and supply chain operations for Heinemann Oceania while also leading the distribution function, including full responsibility for its P&L performance.
You will partner closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficiency, commercial effectiveness, product availability, and operational excellence across multiple channels. You will lead a high‑performing team, drive continuous improvement, and ensure our logistics and distribution network supports both current business needs and strategic growth.
You will responsible be for (but not limited to):
Logistics
- Lead, inspire and develop a team of logistics professionals to achieve operational excellence, innovation and reliability.
- Ensure logistics operations comply with customs, bonded warehouse, airport security and duty-free retail requirements while maintaining service and compliance standards.
- Manage logistics KPIs, network mapping, load optimisation and routing to ensure cost‑effective operations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant WHS, customs, ATO, food safety, liquor licensing and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain audit readiness, business continuity plans and effective risk management controls across logistics, warehousing and distribution operations.
- Drive data-led decision making through robust reporting, analytics and performance monitoring.
- Analyse performance data to ensure service levels are consistently met.
- Prioritise resource allocation to support tactical and strategic business plans.
- Strengthen supplier relationships and proactively resolve issues.
- Ensure logistics strategy remains aligned to business priorities.
Supply Chain
- Develop supply chain strategies that improve efficiency, service delivery and cost performance.
- Achieve purchasing and supply chain objectives across delivery performance, inventory costs and category needs.
- Drive sustainable supply chain initiatives through freight optimisation, waste reduction and responsible sourcing practices aligned with company objectives.
- Manage supply chain operations within a highly regulated airport retail environment, ensuring compliance with customs, ATO and other regulatory obligations.
- Implement strategic plans to drive productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee and drive forecasting improvements to anticipate business trends, customer behaviour, and volume spikes.
- Lead Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) processes, partnering with Commercial, Category and Operations teams to align demand forecasts, inventory levels, promotional activity and business priorities.
- Drive continuous optimisation of the supply chain in partnership with suppliers, freight forwarders and 3PL partners.
- Leverage ERP, WMS and related systems to improve visibility, reporting, automation and operational performance across the supply chain network.
- Own stock health, inventory accuracy and optimal stock coverage across all categories, including accountability for shrinkage, aged stock, write-offs, cycle counts and inventory controls.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of warehouse staff, including receiving, putaway, picking, packing, and shipping operations
- Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy
- Implement and enforce warehouse safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
- Monitor and optimize warehouse processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
- Collaborate with other departments, such as purchasing and logistics, to ensure seamless operations
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to inventory, orders, or shipments in a timely manner
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and identify training needs for warehouse personnel
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and quality standards
Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse operations and inventory management, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory tracking software
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in a warehouse environment
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills to address operational challenges
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field (preferred)
- Certification in warehouse management or logistics (e.g., CPIM, CSCP) is an advantage
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices is desirable
- Knowledge of local labor laws and regulations in Park Ridge, Australia
