REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate is the minimum education requirement
  • Optical background considered a strong asset
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented, have excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities
  • Continuous learning is a large part of this position
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere as well as an individual with minimal supervision

PHYSICAL SKILL AND EFFORT

  • Standing, walking, reaching and bending constantly throughout the day
  • Low, moderate and high noise levels (not to exceed standards)
  • Occasional lifting/carrying 10 lbs or less, pushing/pulling 30 lbs or less

Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE

  • To contribute to the daily warehouse activities, adding value and efficiencies to all required operations
  • To participate in all department operations with focus on specific activities, as required by department management, following manufacturing priorities and hourly production flow

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Picking
  • Receives incoming orders from Order Entry and/or Lab (breakages) into warehouse
  • Picks incoming Rx/stock jobs/orders from the designated bin locations, as per work-ticket instructions
  • Scans properly all items picked, updating inventory accordingly
  • Specific procedures are to be followed when picking semi-finished lenses vs. finished products
  • All trays/stock orders are to be dropped off in designated work locations for processing, as per job requirements. Scans into the appropriate lab locations
  • Understands and follows appropriate SOP’s
  • Stock Invoicing and Shipping
  • Receives Rx jobs from QA and/or stock orders from warehouse pickers. Use of DVI as well as couriers’ label printers
  • Matches carefully the eyewear pair of glasses with the correct invoice, shipping label and supplies (if any)
  • Packages jobs in appropriate shipping boxes
  • Drops the packages in appropriate ICS, UPS, Purolator, Loomis designated bags/locations
  • Prints out shipping manifests as per each courier’s pick-up time
  • Understands and follows appropriate SOP’s
  • Miscellaneous activities
  • Receive incoming materials (non-raw materials)
  • Transport products from one unit to another as deemed necessary, as per current manufacturing/warehouse layout
  • Restock lenses
  • Any other duties, as deemed necessary and required by the department supervisor
