Description
SCOPE OF POSITION: The Warehouse Worker is responsible for accepting and processing incoming food and produce items, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and delivery of orders, and managing, organizing, and retrieving stock in the warehouse.   SUPERVISION: The Warehouse Worker will work under the general supervision of the Lead Warehouse Worker who will provide guidance and direction with overall supervision of the Food Distribution Program Director, who will conduct performance evaluations.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Conduct unloading of incoming trucks and loading of off-site distribution truck. 2. Warehouse and store incoming foods and produce items according to proper storage practices; stacking and rotating food items. 3. Restock the distribution area as needed. 4. Distribute food items and check-off food items when issued for accuracy and obtain customer signature. 5. Report all inventory discrepancies and document damage, loss or missing for reporting purposes. 6. Report all changes, refusals or substitutions in distribution for immediate adjustment on Sygnal Sotware (SP) computer system. 7. Conduct random inventory of selected food and produce items and complete physical inventory at the end of each month. 8. Maintain log of disposal of defective food and produce items. 9. Conduct carry out services to the handicapped and elderly and assist with home deliveries. 10. Provide custodial and maintenance services within the warehouse/offices/kitchen and outside areas on a regular basis. 11. Assist will tasks assigned in case of emergencies and/or disaster situations.   QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High school/GED with one (1) year of stocking, moving or manual labor experience or warehouse related field. 2. Excellent math and calculation skills. 3. Solid verbal and written communication skills. 4. Customer service and professionalism; maintain tact, courtesy, composure and flexibility when dealing with a variety of personalities. 5. Must pass required background check.   JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1. Demonstrate good customer service in greeting the public seeking services and/or information in a respectful and tactful manner. 2. Strong work ethic, organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and capability to perform under demanding and stressful conditions. 3. Understand verbal and written instructions and request clarification when needed. 4. Ability to perform heavy lifting, standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and handling, pushing, and pulling; physically intensive tasks and in adverse conditions. 5. Expected to work beyond normal tour of duty (holidays, administrative leave) to assist with food and produce item receivables. 6. Obtain physical examination to ensure ability to meet physically intensive tasks associated with warehouse work.
