The intensity of growth and investment in City of Parramatta means that Council, their partners, and community have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape the City’s future and ensure it is culturally, socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable.  About the role  This position is responsible for delivering waste education and customer support services to residents, businesses and the broader community, with a strong focus on waste reduction, correct waste practices and continuous improvement of waste management outcomes. The role works closely with operational teams and contractors to support waste procedures, performance and corrective actions. It also plays a key role in planning, developing and delivering waste education programs, community awareness initiatives and special-purpose waste projects aligned with Council strategies and business plans. The Waste Education Officer maintains accurate records, statistics and audit data across all waste streams and prepares reports to support informed decision-making and performance monitoring within the Waste and Cleansing function. On a daily basis you will: * Respond to written and verbal enquiries relating to waste and cleansing services * Liaise with operational staff and contractors on waste procedures, performance issues and corrective actions * Plan, develop and deliver waste education, awareness and waste reduction programs * Conduct waste stream audits and maintain accurate waste statistics * Support the delivery of special waste management projects, campaigns and initiatives * Work collaboratively within the Waste and Cleansing team and across Council * Provide administrative and operational support as required * Provide education, advice and customer support to residents and businesses on Council’s waste policies, procedures and services   About You  The successful candidate will have previous experience in waste education, environmental management or a related field, preferably within a local government or equivalent environment. You will be passionate about sustainability and community engagement, with the ability to communicate complex waste information in a clear and practical manner. You will be comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a team, managing competing priorities while maintaining a strong customer service focus. You will also must bring: * Relevant tertiary qualifications in waste management, environmental science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience * Demonstrated understanding of current waste management initiatives and waste strategies * Experience delivering education, awareness or behaviour change programs * High level customer service experience * Strong written report writing and verbal communication skills * Strong interpersonal skills with ability to engage with diverse stakeholders * Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment   What’s on offer We are offering an attractive remuneration from $96,262 to $106,006 plus 12% superannuation.
