Responsibilities
  • Undertake collection of various waste streams including, manufacturing, domestic and recyclable wastes from all departments and buildings within the Trust including premises remote from the main site
  • Ensure the correct segregation of all the waste streams collected to meet the Trust waste policy.
  • Encourage recycling materials within your area of work
  • Drive ride-on sweepers and forklift trucks within the site boundaries
  • Routine Daily checks of electric forklifts and waste handling equipment ensuring operational fitness. Reporting any faults to the Waste Team Leader
  • Undertake minor repairs to waste bins and other equipment using a range of simple hand tools
  • Ensure security of waste bins before removal (e.g. not overfull, lid secured and locked)
  • Immediately report any leaks form clinical waste bins and notify the Team Leader, taking all appropriate sections prescribed in the safe systems of work documentation
  • Be conversant with the Safe Systems of Work procedures as they apply to the waste collection incidents.
  • Operate waste handling plant and equipment
  • Operate power-cleaning equipment
  • Clean waste bins and containers
  • Clean workshops, plant rooms plant and machinery
  • Maintain and clean factory yard
  • Movement of materials and equipment
  • Respond to and complete tasks, schedules or by adhoc request as per company policy
  • Undertake any training required to carry out the duties of the post
  • Identify and report all waste disposal problems including incorrect disposal by users and potential fire / security hazards
  • Comply with Health and Safety requirements understanding and using safe working practices and utilizing proactive clothing as prescribed and provided.
