Responsibilities

FIND PURPOSE AND IMPACT

As a Treatment Technician (Water and Sewerage), you’ll play an essential, hands-on role in keeping the Dubbo region safe, growing and enjoyable for all. Combining outdoors and office-based work, you’ll ensure the supply of clean, reliable and high-quality drinking water. You’ll also protect our region by treating sewage to an environmentally acceptable level. By getting stuck into interesting, diverse challenges, you’ll test your skills and shape a career that never gets stale.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Assisting in the effective, efficient operation of treatment plants and managing reservoirs, booster stations and sewer pumping stations to ensure they are of high quality and meet requirements
  • Testing water and sewage chemical characteristics to meet industry standards and licence guidelines through best practice procedures
  • Developing chemical testing for water and sewage treatment schedules to enhance the performance of treatment plants
  • Participating in an on-call roster to respond to service failures via Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) alarms after hours and on weekendsMaintaining accurate and current computer databases and schedules

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate III in Water Operations (Treatment) or the ability to obtain this within two years of employment
  • Demonstrated experience working in the water industry in particular treating water and waste water
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • General administrative skills demonstrating a competent level of literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills
  • Experience in the operation of supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA)/telemetry
