SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALITIES FOR SUCCESSFUL WATER INSTALLERS

  • Currently hold a Christchurch City Council certification for Water Installer (or actively working towards it) is preferred.
  • Previous experience in water installation, civil plumbing, pipe laying, or a related field is essential.
  • A positive, safety-first attitude and the ability to follow instructions diligently.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, working well with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Full New Zealand driver’s licence (Class 1); WTR endorsements or Class 2 licence are a bonus but not mandatory.
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand is required.
Responsibilities
  • Install & replace Smart Meters.
  • Carry out specific potable water-related tasks as required in your daily work, including but not limited to trenching, pipelaying, water cut-ins, backfill to CCC standards, and industry best practice.
  • Operate plant as required on the jobsite (when appropriate licences are obtained).
  • Carry out physical labouring duties required in the day-to-day operation of the Construction Division.
  • Read and interpret site drawings to ensure precise installation and efficient workflow.
  • Conduct routine site and safety checks, proactively identifying and reporting potential hazards.
  • Work collaboratively with wider on-site teams, engineers, and supervisors to achieve project objectives efficiently.
  • Record and report progress, materials usage, and any issues or changes as required.
