ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a student to join us for a 4-month temporary position starting in April 2025 to gain hands-on experience in Water Management with TransAlta Corporation at our Head Office in Calgary, Alberta.
The Water Management Engineering Student position offers a great opportunity to contribute to the sustainable energy transition and gain hands-on experience in the hydroelectric power industry.
Reporting to the Hydro Optimizer, the Water Management Engineering student will work closely with the Water Management team, which is accountable for planning hydro generation, balancing water resources considerations with environmental requirements and providing important generation to Alberta’s electricity grid. The student will support the Water Management team by contributing to ongoing projects aimed at modernizing our team’s software, tools and processes.
Tasks will include engineering analysis of existing systems and historical data to improve existing operations as well as updating and developing documentation to help ensure continued reliable operations of our facilities. This position offers a unique chance to develop and apply technical skills in a real-world setting, while playing a crucial part in the sustainable energy transition.
This is a full-time, temporary position of 4 months, with an ideal start date of April 2025. The role will primarily be in the office with some opportunity for field visits.
