    An exciting opportunity has become available for a Water Quality Analyst with a background in Chemistry to join the Customer Experience team within Sydney Water.
    We are the largest dedicated water and wastewater laboratory in the southern hemisphere with Tier 1 quality in our laboratory and field performance. This allows us to provide the highest level of assurance to the community of Sydney Water’s quality product.
    We undertake sampling and analysis across all products, such as source water, drinking water, wastewater, recycled water, environmental waters (i.e. river, beaches, ocean sediments), stormwater, biosolids, sludges, grit & screenings.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undertake various water and soil laboratory preparatory functions for organic and inorganic analysis, sample receipt and willingness to learn to operate scientific instrumentation such as TOC analyser, Oil &Grease, BOD, FIA, IC, ICP, HPLC and GC
  • Undertake intermediate computer skills working with Microsoft office, Labware (LIMS) and other relevant software packages.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance requirements for analysis of water and wastewater products, including NATA ISO 17025 accreditation and ISO 9000 quality system requirements.
  • Work safely, undertake risk assessments and report hazards and incidents.

About you:

  • Certificate, degree, or similar qualification in chemistry or equivalent
  • 1 year+ experience working in a laboratory preferably in the water industry
  • Willing to work outside core hours on a rotational basis, flexible start/finish times between 7am to 6pm to meet contractual obligations
  • Proven attention to detail and accuracy in following procedures, documentation and data entry.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a team, ability to prioritise high volumes of work and willingness to learn new tasks.
Responsibilities

Reporting to the Laboratory Team Leader your daily duties include receiving and processing of samples, analysis of results, data entry, quality control, checks and calibrations.
You will perform routine and non-routine analyses of samples from a variety of environments, using a range of equipment in accordance with procedures to meet customer quality and time expectations and regulatory and operational requirements.
