Description

We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a 600+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 21 office locations in Canada. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen.
As our new Water Quality Modeller, you will play an important role in broadening SLR’s expertise in Integrated Mine Water Management, supporting projects and offices across Canada and potentially abroad. We offer the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement, with primarily remote work arrangements possible for suitable candidates. Qualified candidates located anywhere in Canada are encouraged to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience developing water quality models, geochemical source terms, and conducting water quality assessments applicable to the mining industry.
  • A high degree of proficiency with Goldsim® software for water quality modelling. Experience with other water modelling platforms would be beneficial.
  • Academic background in geology, geochemistry, engineering, biology, or other relevant specialization. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Relevant professional designation, or eligibility for registration.
  • Knowledge and experience with applicable federal and provincial regulations and guidelines, preferably with a working knowledge of British Columbia, Ontario, Yukon, and/or Northwest Territories mine permitting processes.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports in accordance with regulatory guidelines, and to communicate and liaise effectively with members of regulatory bodies, industry, special interest groups and First Nations are also required.
  • Valid driver’s license, and willingness to undertake short term travel.
  • Demonstrated experience balancing multiple project commitments and deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication skills.
SLR strives to build diverse teams that reflect the communities we work in, and encourages applications from traditionally underrepresented groups including women, visible minorities, Indigenous peoples, people identifying as LGBTQ+, veterans, and people with disabilities.
If we can make the recruitment process easier through accommodation, please contact a member of the People team at canadacareers@slrconsulting.com
Responsibilities

Due to growth in mine permitting and mine water management projects, we are seeking to hire an individual with experience developing Goldsim® based surface water quality models and analyzing water chemistry data. Development of geochemical source terms as input parameters to models will also be a key competency. You will contribute to the growth of our natural environment service line in Canada, while supporting our mine water management work as well as our permitting and environmental management groups on projects across the country.
In addition to strong technical skills, you will also have knowledge and experience with applicable legislation, regulations, guidelines and standards within Canada, and the successful management and delivery of projects, meeting SLR’s high standards for quality and client satisfaction. Your expertise will be relied upon to provide outstanding client service and advisory solutions to help our clients solve complex problems.
