JOB DESCRIPTION

This position primarily develops the 305(b) Report which is technically and procedurally accurate, in a timely manner. To develop the 303(d) List of Impaired Waters and supporting data. To review water guidance, laws, standards, and regulation including 303(e) amendments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to water quality, particularly Virginia Water Quality Standards and sections 303(d), 303(e) and 305(b) of the Clean Water Act.
  • Knowledge of environmental science and engineering principles, aquatic ecology, chemistry, water quality monitoring, assessment and hydrology.
  • Knowledge, experience, or education regarding the water quality planning processes including review of VPDES permits for consistency with all planning documents.
  • Ability to plan, communicate, and conduct public meetings, public engagements, outreach and to represent the agency regarding water quality.
  • Knowledge, experience, or education related to data analysis, technical writing, and communication.
  • Education and experience in environmental sciences, natural sciences, environmental engineering or related field.
  • Experience or training in advanced statistical technologies and/or advanced programming software.This position may require you to operate a state owned or leased vehicle. Therefore, a valid driver’s license is required.
