We are involved in all marine and coastal sectors, from ports to offshore wind, flood risk management to marine habitat creation and restoration. Our technical teams work across industry for all kinds of clients, supporting developers, government and its regulators, statutory nature conservation bodies and non-governmental organisations, with a diverse portfolio of projects and services; no two projects or days are the same.

We are looking for a principal water quality specialist to join our expanding group of marine water quality practitioners. Our growing portfolio os exciting projects means you will be working with oceanographers, numerical modellers, surveyors and environmental scientists to deliver a arange of water quality projects to support the energy, water utilility and other sectors. These projects typically support environmental permitting and licensing. We also deliver larger hydrodynamic and water quality studies to ptimise new waterfront developments, design sustainable intake and outfalls or examine the potential impact of contaminanat release into the marine environment (including potential release of contaminated sediment).
About You
You are experienced in delivering a range of technical water quality analysis and consultancy reports. You have an attention to detail, are highly organised and self motivated, with excellent report writing and engaging presentation skills. You will have a strong commitent to sustainable development in the marine environment and be keen to apply your expertise to bespoke problems.

You will have skills & experience in:

  • Water and sediment quality using a range of analysis tools
  • Physico-chemical water quality and associated regulatory standards
  • A good understanding of coastal and estuarine processes
  • Environmental Impact Assessment
  • Environmental permitting and licensing

Experience in the some or all following would also be beneficial:

  • Use of MATLAB, R or Python
  • Numerical water quality modelling of the marine environment using MIKE including particle tracking, advection, water quality and chemical processes
  • Representations at public hearings
  • Specification of water quality surveys
  • Project management

Experience

  • A degree or postgraduate degree in marine biology, biological oceanography or physical sciences.
  • At least five years’ relevant experience water quality analysis, preferably with consultancy experience
