Description

The Surface Water Assessment and Modelling (SWAM) team plays a key role in ensuring that decisions about Victoria’s surface water resources are supported by the best-available information, surface water assessments and modelling. This position will be responsible for undertaking modelling tasks and technical assessment of surface water resources to inform decisions, analyse outcomes and assess risks for effective management of Victoria’s surface water resources related to delivery of Water for Victoria and implementation of the Basin Plan. This includes modelling activities contributing to the Basin Plan Review and Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Mechanism (SDLAM) projects as well as support other initiatives including Long Term Water Resource Assessment and Urban Water Strategy.

SPECIALIST/TECHNICAL EXPERTISE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in science, environmental or engineering is mandatory.
  • Skills in technical data analysis and experience in technical report writing is desirable.
  • Knowledge of modelling including experience and proficiency in application of various surface water modelling tools is desirable.
  • Skills in data processing using scripting languages such as R and Python is desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Victorian water industry and/or the Murray-Darling Basin is desirable.
