Description

WHO WE ARE

In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life.
As caretakers for Melbourne’s water cycle, we care for water, life and land throughout Melbourne: both its people and its biodiversity.
Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, run through a yard sprinkler, or kayak down the Yarra, we’re there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world’s cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home, just as we have for over 130 years.
If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what’s right, you’re in the right place.

Responsibilities

Reporting to Manager Water Resource System Planning, this is a fixed term, full time role until September 2026 within the Water Resource System Planning team. As the Water Resource Assessment Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking water resources system modelling assessments
  • Undertaking hydrological and climate scenario assessments
  • Maintaining water resources and hydrologic data sets and providing information to stakeholders

Based on current water resources available to Melbourne from dams, rivers, and the Victorian Desalination Plant, and considering a range of future water resources options, your modelling and assessment will inform water resources decisions and will assist Melbourne Water to plan for various future supply-demand scenarios.
