JOB DESCRIPTION

Join a dynamic and dedicated Water Resources Team within our Chantilly, VA office as a Water Resources Engineer. This role involves working on stormwater design projects supporting new and redevelopment initiatives, offering excellent opportunities for professional growth in an environment that values excellence and teamwork.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a similar field.
  • Minimum of 4-10+ years of civil/water resources engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, preferably Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency with H&H modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-1, HY-8, Flowmaster.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or ability to obtain.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Strong quality control skills and attention to detail.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • PE License or Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency with ArcMap or similar software.
Responsibilities
  • Produce final construction documents.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project needs.
  • Develop local and state permit applications.
  • Prepare technical reports to support project objectives.
  • Research regulatory codes, manuals, and standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Design various SWM facilities including bioretentions, green roofs, permeable pavements, stormwater ponds, manufactured treatment devices, and underground detention facilities.
  • Develop and execute stormwater operation and maintenance programs for entities owning large SWM assets.
  • Model and analyze local and FEMA floodplains for existing and proposed conditions.
  • Design large culvert/bridge crossings.
  • Analyze and permit state-regulated dams, including dam breach inundation studies, operation and maintenance permitting, alteration permits, emergency action plan development and execution, and annual dam inspections.
  • Gain general civil/land development experience.
