JOB DESCRIPTION

AECOM is seeking a Water Resources Engineer for our Water Resources Group in British Columbia, Canada. This role offers the right candidate the potential for a fast upwards career progression within AECOM.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Apply experience and knowledge to the planning and design of stormwater infrastructure for municipal, transportation and mining projects.
  • Design drainage systems and stormwater control structures for the municipal, transportation and mining sectors.
  • Design blue and green infrastructure including infiltration, retention and treatment systems such raingardens, bioswales, ponds, water squares, etc.
  • Collaborate with geomorphologists to develop engineered solutions including river crossings, erosion and scour protection.
  • Collaborate with biologists and landscape architects to design nature-based infrastructure like living shorelines, restored wetlands, amphibious public parks, etc.
  • Collaborate on stormwater/groundwater balance for mining projects.
  • Lead the hydrotechnical component of earth fill dike/dams projects.
  • Work directly with the group manager, project engineers, junior engineers, civil designers and drafters, GIS specialists, and supporting staff on projects related to Water Resources.
  • Prepare high-quality standards design reports.
  • Communicate and work with other project team members and clients, providing a high standard of technical excellence to ensure that all documentation conforms to client/company standards.
  • Ability to develop presentation skills, clearly articulate thoughts and to think in a critically matter in relation to project development. In particular, to present, discuss, promote and defend design solutions to AECOM project teams and clients.
  • Assist in the development of scopes of work and budgets for water resources projects or for water resources components of larger projects (i.e. multi-disciplinary).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources or Civil Engineering
  • 4+ years of water resources experience including design of stormwater systems
  • Registered as a P.Eng or eligible within 6-12 months

EXPERIENCE CONSIDERED AS AN ASSET:

  • 5+ years of water resources experience including design of stormwater systems
  • Experience in construction management of stormwater infrastructure
  • Experience in the preparation of cost estimate and tender packages
  • Experience in stormwater/groundwater balance and coastal engineering
  • Experience in the design of stormwater control structures
  • Experience in hydrotechnical assessment, including climate change factoring related to flood and drought
  • Experience in Master Planning and Stormwater Management Plans
  • Experience in 2-D and 3-D analysis related to dam safety reviews
  • Experience in drinking water supply systems analysis, modelling and design
  • Experience using GIS tools and CADD design to lead designers/drafters
  • Demonstration of commercial awareness and the ability to support the team to deliver projects on time and budget.
