Summary We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Water Resources Engineer to join our growing North Carolina land development team. As a water resources engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, analysis, design, and permitting of stormwater management systems as part of our land development projects. You’ll work closely with staff civil engineers and surveyors, municipal planners, and contractors to deliver projects that balance regulatory compliance, cost efficiency, and environmental responsibility. Work Location: On-site with flexible work arrangements Pay Rate Type: Hourly with overtime rate of 1.5x base pay for all hours worked over 40 in a week (Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications) Responsibilities Design and model stormwater management systems, including detention/retention basins, green infrastructure, and low-impact development (LID) features Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling using software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Hydraflows Hydrographs, Hydraflows Storm Sewers, HydroCAD, or similar Prepare drainage reports, stormwater management plans, and supporting documentation for permitting and construction Assist in regulatory approvals and interface with local, state, and federal agencies Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate water resource design into overall site development plans Review designs for compliance with jurisdictional criteria and client objectives Support project management tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, team coordination, and client communication Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred) 4+ years of experience in water resources or land development engineering North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to attain within 12 months) Proficiency with H&H modeling software and CAD tools (Civil 3D preferred) Strong knowledge of stormwater regulations, including MS4, NPDES, and local ordinances Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively Prior project management experience (preferred) Physical Demands and Work Environment Work is primarily performed in an office environment Ability to occasionally move equipment/objects weighing up to 10 pounds Benefit Information Regular full-time employees will have access to: Medical, dental, and vision plans HSA and FSA options Employer-paid short-term and long-term disability coverage Employer-paid life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment insurance Employee assistance program Voluntary benefits such as additional life insurance coverage, accident coverage, and critical illness coverage Paid time off and holidays Retirement 401(k) plan with company match Sambatek, LLC is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in its workforce.
