REQUIREMENTS

As a Water Resources Technician / Modeler, you will apply general civil, environmental, and water resources engineering design principles on a variety of public and private projects.

  • Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic modeling evaluations for various projects.
  • Apply a working knowledge of GIS applications and tools to perform hydrologic analysis and application to Water Resources projects and studies
  • Produce storm calculations and/or perform stormwater analyses with various hydrologic and hydraulic software packages, including but not limited to: AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM; and prepare storm drainage plans to include storm sewer piping, open channel design, orifice and weir design, culvert design, inlet flow calculations (spread calcs) and basic hydrologic and hydraulic calculations
  • Assist on capital improvement and watershed planning studies
  • Interact with and respond to plan reviewers
  • Interact with other disciplines within the overall company structure
  • May design Sediment Traps and Basins in accordance with local and State standards
  • Layout Erosion Control devices and develop plans per local and State standards
  • Design and layout stormwater management facilities and assist with development of plans
  • Prepare nutrient management calculations
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of riverine floodplain and floodway concepts
  • Assist with preparation of riverine flood analysis, FEMA map revisions, and local flood analysis
  • Assist with preparation of watershed analyses for basins of various sizes
  • Technical Writing (Engineering Reports, memorandum, etc.) to document objectives, methodologies, assumptions, and findings.
  • Floodplain development permitting, including No-Rise certifications and CLOMR/LOMR applications.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff in the Water Resources Team.
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field and two years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant water resources / stormwater experience, internship, co-op, or research experience preferred.
  • Engineering Intern (EI) certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license.
