BETA Group, Inc. is seeking motivated candidates for our Summer Internship – Water Resources & Wastewater Engineering program. As an intern, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of real-world environmental, water resources, and wastewater projects alongside a team of experienced engineers, planners, and scientists. This is a valuable opportunity to learn from industry leaders and gain practical skills that will support your future in engineering. Responsibilities: Gain valuable hands-on experience to begin building your engineering career Apply classroom knowledge to real-world water and environmental engineering challenges Conduct field investigations, data collection, and site visits with engineering staff Support a variety of active projects across both design and construction phases Contribute to project tasks and deliverables while learning new technical skills Develop a deeper understanding of the engineering profession through practical experience Collaborate with and learn from experienced engineers, planners, and technical staff Take initiative in your learning by asking thoughtful questions and actively engaging with your team Preferred location is BETA’s Norwood, MA office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. Growth Opportunities: BETA encourages and promotes employee advancement and career development Leads to potential advancement to more senior technical positions and project management Requirements Skills Required: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related field Understanding of general engineering theory and concepts Proficient in the use of current technology (i.e., tablets, smart phones, laptops, etc.) Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Strong technical aptitude with an eagerness to learn Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow) Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Preferred Experience: General working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or other CAD platform About BETA: BETA Group, Inc. is a New England based consultant engineering firm and leader in the fields of transportation, traffic, structural, civil/site, and water/wastewater engineering; landscape architecture; urban design and planning; GIS/asset management; environmental sciences and permitting; and construction services.
