ABOUT THE ROLE

This full-time position is based at the Narrandera Shire Council Works Depot, Barellan Road Narrandera.
This position is required to operate various items of mobile plant, including backhoe, excavator and skid-steer, in support of maintenance and construction projects undertaken by the Water and Sewer Maintenance and Operations or Water and Sewer Construction teams.
9 day fortnight. The position is required to be on call every second week, to provide mobile plant operation support in the event of after-hours emergencies.
On-call requirement and allowance every second week, Overtime rates paid for any call outs.
The position will rotate between the Maintenance and Operations Team, and the Construction Team as required.

DUTIES

• Mobile Plant Operation - Operation of mobile plant and equipment in support of the Water and Sewer Maintenance and Operations/Water and Sewer Construction Teams during scheduled maintenance and constructions works.
• Undertake labouring duties - During the time that the job holder isn’t operating mobile plant the role is occupied with maintenance and construction activities including but not limited to laying pipes, labouring, hydrant maintenance, replacing meters, replacing water services, manhole maintenance, sewer jetting, camera inspections of sewer mains and general labouring duties as required.
• Traffic Control - Understanding and erection of traffic control signs correctly as indicated on the Traffic Control Plan (TCP).
• Risk Management - Undertake hazard identification and risk assessment on site as required to ensure a safe work environment.
• Administration - By accurately completing all documentation necessary for Council’s records in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures.
• Customer Service - By ensuring customer service is provided in a prompt, friendly, helpful and courteous manner and in accordance with Council procedures and requirements.Teamwork - By productively contributing to the outcomes of the Water and Sewer team.
