Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking an experienced and Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment Specialist / Project Director to lead major international water supply and/or wastewater projects. This role is ideal for a technical professional with extensive experience living and working in developing countries and a background in working with International Financial Institutions (IFIs) such as EBRD, World Bank, Danida, etc.
In Sweco’s International Department, we manage complex infrastructure projects funded by development banks, multi/bi-lateral agencies, local governments, and private organisations all over the globe. As our new colleague, you will work with and learn from a multi-disciplinary team of international colleagues who share a passion of creating sustainable solutions for our clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and oversee complex, multi-year water supply and wastewater treatment projects worldwide, from feasibility to detailed design and supervision.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality standards, reporting regularly to stakeholders and funding agencies.
  • Coordinate and direct teams—including external and local staff—ensuring effective project delivery.
  • Prepare and review tender documents and submissions for new projects.
  • Oversee compliance with FIDIC contract conditions and other relevant regulations.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and develop master plans for water supply systems.
  • Design and supervise installation and commissioning of water infrastructure (treatment plants, pump stations, distribution networks).
  • Perform comprehensive financial analysis, investment planning, and environmental/social impact assessments.
  • Drive the digitalization of water supply systems, including SCADA and PLC integration.
  • Provide capacity building and technical training to local engineering teams.
  • Monitor and evaluate project outcomes for continuous improvement.
