Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

  • As part of a team of technical specialists, provide the role of Technical Authority for all Water Systems on the BBC Account, supporting EMCOR UK’s delivery of the highest levels of technical service and support.
  • Provide technical guidance, leadership, advice and direction to EMCOR UK staff, BBC Customers and Third-Party Suppliers to enable the BBC Account remains technically compliant and EMCOR UK are held as trusted partners in the delivery of exacting professional engineering standards.
  • Provide daily oversight of operations to ensure consistent technical service delivery, to the appropriate timescales and standards.
  • Collaboratively work alongside Tech Ops Managers to achieve BBC short, medium and long-term technical strategies, providing EMCOR UK technical input and considerations.
  • Act as the authoritative technical point of contact for all water system operating standards and performance requirements.
  • Champion continuous improvements for system performance, processes, procedures, and monitoring for the Water Systems.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Control and overall responsibility for all BBC Account Legionella and water systems including cooling towers. Ensuring they are operated, maintained, diagnosed and repaired to the appropriate statutory, regulatory, BBC standards and LCA service delivery standards, reporting any equipment or performance issues to the EMCOR Site Lead and BBC Customer.
  • Responsible for the technical oversight of all site-based water activity and supply chain partners to ensure the highest levels of service delivery against latest statutory, regulatory and BBC standards and LCA service delivery standards.
  • Implementation and reviewing of Written Scheme of Control and Risk Assessments. Liaising regularly with Client Duty Holder and Responsible Person to ensure the Written Scheme of Control is suitable and sufficient to meet statutory requirements.
  • Develop, introduce and maintain water system operating instructions and related documents (e.g. SOP’s and logbooks) that define the site water safety programme.
  • Provide water subject matter expertise through deviation investigation, participation of review meetings. Also, where possible introduce new ways of working to the site operations teams.
  • Scheduling and completing investigations into plant failure, breech of operating or maintenance procedures.
  • Work in conjunction with the drawings office to control and maintain water drawings, procedures, logbooks and certificates as required by EMCOR UK and BBC.
  • Analyse complex systems where required to understand faults and performance limitations and make recommendations to address short-falls and deliver improvements.
  • Proactively and collaboratively engage with projects to provide EMCOR technical expertise for the design, installation, testing and commissioning of all site-based water systems. This includes the setting of appropriate maintenance and spares requirements and associated hand over procedures.
  • Proactive engagement in Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) system reviews ensuring continuous improvement of systems under your control.
  • Ensure risks are appropriately documented and managed via EMCOR UK/BBC systems.
  • Provide control and assume overall responsibility for compliant Legionella delivery, ensuring the EMCOR Engineering Compliance Manager and BBC technical lead is kept informed of status and performance of equipment, this includes:
  • Chairing weekly and monthly Water meeting with the client to update them on status and planning for inspections, faults and performance.
  • Review data integrity in EAM/CAFM systems to ensure statutory requirements are met or exceeded, correct maintenance for assets is in place.
  • Perform routine management monitoring to measure site program effectiveness.
  • In conjunction with Technical Leads, set, support and deliver professional mechanical engineering standards, training requirements, competency standards (Knowledge, Skills & Experience) and support competency assessment delivery, where required.
  • Liaison with Area Team Leaders to ensure compliance, correct procedures and competency is maintained for water system engineers.
  • Review and instigate documents relevant to water systems (e.g. government publications, industry professional standards and EMCOR UK Compliance) to ensure EMCOR comply with the latest statutory and regulatory standards and LCA service delivery standards.
  • Provide technical support to ensure capital expenditure is prioritised and risks reduced.
  • Recommend improvement opportunities and champion implementation.
