Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Water Technology Specialist to enhance our cross-sector Water and Environment offerings. This position will serve as a technical liaison bridging AECOM’s Water, Environment, and Advisory Business lines to drive innovation in emerging contaminant treatment, sustainable chemistry, and next-generation water treatment technologies, while fostering partnerships with government agencies, and academia. By leveraging emerging contaminants expertise, advanced treatment technology knowledge and a vision for unique services, the successful candidate will drive advances and expand our advisory business offerings. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in emerging treatment technology concept-proofing for known and emerging contaminants such as PFAS, and an ability to develop advances collaboratively with our bench of experienced specialty engineers and scientists. Strong communication skills are critical for this role.
This role supports growth and drives technical delivery in key projects/programs, with an emphasis on supporting AECOM’s global strategic initiatives (PFAS and other emerging contaminants, water resiliency, and energy).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in civil, environmental, chemistry or related degree and 6 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Publication and grant-funded track record of success in water, water treatment, emerging contaminants
  • Demonstrated expertise modeling and analyzing technology performance and limiting conditions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in civil, environmental, chemistry or related degree
  • Professionally licensed Environmental Engineer or Geologist
  • 10+ years of experience related to consulting and solution design for complex or emerging concerns
  • Demonstrated visibility within client community as a technical resource for emerging contaminant measurement, treatment, and technology development
  • Pre-design and design experience for private industrial and municipal treatment programs
  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Consult across AECOM’s Business Line (BL) Growth Teams and BL leadership to specify growth objectives and develop detailed tactical action plans — focused on both deepening and expanding current relationships with existing clients, as well as with new clients
  • Coordinate with the existing technical leaders in emerging contaminants across all business lines to drive growth in AECOM’s services offerings to include enterprise-wide solutions for industrial wastewater management and treatment
  • Capitalize on expertise and existing professional network to maintain and establish new key account relationships and ensure they are managed for growth under AECOM’s client account management (CAM) program
  • Identify and expand opportunities with existing AECOM clients - focusing on working with AECOM CAMs and identifying new opportunities addressing the nexus of environment, water, and energy.
  • Build, maintain, and facilitate trusting relationships with key contacts in leadership across client organizations and support AECOM’s CAMs and team members in bringing innovation to AECOM offerings
  • Collaborate with AECOM’s strongest practitioners to create solutions that showcase AECOM’s unique problem-solving experience and expertise.
  • Promote internal talent development through identifying, recruiting, and mentoring next generation innovators
  • Represent AECOM at select national conferences, identify opportunities for technical talent to present at conferences as a means of promoting technical dialogues with clients and colleagues
