Description Purpose: The Waterjet Laser Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Waterjet machine. This includes loading and running 2D cutting programs, inspecting part quality, maintaining accurate records, and performing routine maintenance. This role supports continuous improvement efforts and proper material handling while ensuring compliance with all safety standards. Essential Functions: · Operate the machine in a safe manner · Perform quality first piece inspections and get Quality approvals as needed · Separate the finished product from the skeleton · Load and run programs set by Engineering · Responsible for the quality of the product. · Get assistance from the Team Leader or Engineering when the machine is not cutting correctly. · Know how to start and stop the Water Jet properly. · Run 2D programs provided by Engineering and ensure proper nesting and cut alignment on the machine. · Load steel, unload finished parts and skeletons from the Waterjet and 2D lasers; organize parts per job order and prepare them for shipping. · Responsible for all material handling and inventory of Water jet parts and steel plates coming from Alro · Repair of all nonconforming parts · DXFs updated and old files deleted when a programming alert has been received · Keep necessary operational and quality records and complete required paperwork · Remain productive and assist with other tasks during machine transitions or downtime. · Implement continuous improvement ideas · 6-S responsibility for the area. · Dispose of scrap skeletons responsibly in the correct recycling dumpsters. · Perform basic maintenance tasks at the prescribed frequency to maintain the machine in good working order. · Perform additional tasks as needed to support production goals or team initiatives. Requirements 1. High School Diploma or GED preferred 2. Trained to operate an overhead crane 3. Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program 4. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal 5. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team 6. Analytical and problem-solving skills 7. Compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures 8. Must have excellent attendance as well as willingness and ability to work overtime 9. Physically demanding task of unloading parts from sheet steel skeletons throughout the shift. 10. Must be able to lift 50 pounds continuously. 11. Must be able to pull and position steel plates. 12. Must be able to stand for long periods.
