YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 14 years of age or older by June 1, 2025
  • Availability:
  • Monday – Friday with shifts approximately between 8:00am – 4:30pm (times may vary)
  • Minimum 3 weeks during the summer camp season (July-August) *unless an alternative duration has been agreed upon with WOW Camp Leads/Supervisors
  • Enjoy working with children and have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management skills.
  • Completion of a Ways of the Woods (WOW) CIT Camp, or a similar Counselor Training program is considered an asset
  • Ability to volunteer outside in a variety of weather conditions, on varied terrain.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Standard First Aid and CPR certification (or similar) is considered an asset
  • Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
  • CH parks are not accessible by public transit; candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation.
Responsibilities
  • Along with your assigned counsellor, lead groups of campers while exploring CH Parks, trails, and activities, creating fun and adventure in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Support the WOW camp team with delivering memorable camp experiences to kids 4 through 15 years old. Provide campers with an unforgettable experience, fostering friendships, and creating lifelong memories.
  • Assist the WOW camp team with programming at each activity (boating, swimming, challenge course, etc.). Ensure that campers are active, engaged, having fun, and learning something new!
  • Assist WOW Camp Counsellors with providing supervision to camp participants and maintaining best practices for health/safety of campers and other staff members
  • Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
