POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Copywriter – Digital Content is responsible for crafting compelling, customer-centric copy across The Home Depot Canada’s digital ecosystem. This role supports marketing campaigns, seasonal events, promotional messaging, and evergreen content across multiple platforms including web, email and more. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with a strong understanding of audience segmentation, digital trends, and brand voice, who can write with purpose and precision to drive engagement and conversion.

SKILLS:

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing and SEO
  • Ability to write for multiple formats and audiences
  • Familiarity with AODA, Alt Text, and best practices for digital copywriting
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS)
  • Bilingualism (French) is an asset

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Primarily desk-based with standard office ergonomics

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field

Responsibilities
  • Promotional & Campaign Copywriting
  • Write clear, engaging, and on-brand copy for digital campaigns, seasonal events, and promotions.
  • Produce customer-facing digital content including promotional emails, banners, and hero content.
  • Tailor messaging for different audiences and channels, ensuring consistency and relevance.
  • Proofread and edit content from multiple sources to localize and tailor for Canadian audiences.
  • Ensure all live web content matches approved wireframes, copydecks, or design proofs before publishing.
  • Digital Content Development
  • Write for various content formats and platforms with awareness of channel-specific requirements (e.g., landing pages, guides, and email).
  • Edit and optimize content for ALT text, readability, and compliance with accessibility and legal standards.
  • Conduct thorough copyediting to eliminate spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting errors across digital assets.
  • Conduct visual and functional QA on content before launch.
  • Maintain accountability for the accuracy, consistency, and publication of all assigned content updates or new content launches.
  • Messaging & Brand Voice
  • Translate complex product or service information into simple, compelling copy.
  • Maintain and evolve The Home Depot Canada’s tone of voice across all digital touchpoints.
  • Ensure all content adheres to brand and editorial guidelines.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with web developers, content strategists, marketing, legal, and creative teams to support coordinated content delivery.
  • Participate in planning meetings and project briefings to understand content objectives, customer needs, and brand priorities.
  • Support the implementation of new content initiatives, site section redesigns, and campaign launches by aligning messaging with key business goals.
  • Help refine and document the content production process, including the creation of best practices and QA protocols to improve consistency and quality.
