JOB SUMMARY

The Office of the Vice President for Communications (OVPC) seeks a highly skilled Web Content Specialist with demonstrated project management experience to join our Digital Strategy team. OVPC is the only full-service strategic communications and marketing group exclusively dedicated to promoting the University of Michigan. From helping recruit the next generation of Wolverines to providing media coverage of our faculty’s latest research discoveries to building our brand around the world, we partner with departments on all three U-M campuses to develop and share the Michigan story.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Digital Strategy and Michigan Commons, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining a portfolio of university websites managed by Communications. You will ensure that the site’s content strategy remain in alignment with our mission and institutional goals and work to enhance the digital experience of our audiences. This role requires a balance of creative content management, analytical thinking, and proficient project management skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in web content management and project management, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
  • Proficient in web content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and project management tools.
  • Strong understanding of web analytics (e.g., Google Analytics) and SEO techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and demonstrate effective leadership in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Wordpress management experience.
  • Front-end HTML coding experience.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, Agile).
  • Experience with UX/UI design principles.

RESPONSIBILITIES*

  1. Content Management:
  • In collaboration with OVPC creative staff: develop, manage, and maintain high-quality web content that aligns with the University’s branding and communication strategy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to gather content and ensure consistency with university standards.
  • Implement/advise SEO best practices to maximize content visibility and engagement.
