Web Front-End Developer Johnson Controls is searching for a highly skilled and experienced Web Front-End Developer with UI expertise. The Web Front-End Developer will be working on multiple JCI applications. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of how to translate complex product requirements and high-fidelity mockups into an elegantly coded, usable, scalable, extensible, and maintainable user interface. The Web Front-End Developer will be working in an agile environment, with both onshore and offshore teammates, as well as with our leadership team, using iterative and cutting-edge design methods. Responsibilities The Web Front-End Developer will build robust, intuitive interfaces, dashboards, and customized web components for software applications using ReactJS, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML technologies. Applicable candidates must be highly skilled at writing and organizing clean, effective, and unit-testable code for complex user tasks and interactions. The candidate will be collaborating with UX designers to develop, maintain and build upon the application’s design system; creating reusable components, structures and code snippets. Candidates will also help to develop and present rapid prototypes for the use of internal teams, focus groups, and key stakeholders. Candidates will work closely with other offshore development team members, as well as with an onshore Product Owner, Solutions Delivery Lead, and Solutions Architect to plan and coordinate efforts. Candidates will evaluate user requirements, in collaboration with the Product Owner, engineers, and other roles. The Web Front-End Developer will be expected to make recommendations that will positively impact legacy programs, so that they adapt and comply with modern internet application standards, using the latest front-end technologies. Candidates will work in a rapid development environment, where effective communication - and asking questions to get clarification and consensus - is essential. Everyone in the team contributes to building a positive, can-do, high-performance culture. Candidate must be a self-starter who is highly effective at defining, managing and prioritizing their personal workload. Through proven experience, they must be adept at setting accurate timelines for their own scope of work. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, specializing in computer science, engineering, or related field Minimum 3+ years of experience building responsive websites and interfaces that work seamlessly, from mobile devices to large desktop monitors Experience with ReactJS is required Minimum 3+ years of experience building complex web and mobile applications Experience with leading the front-end development effort for complex web and mobile applications Expertise in coding HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, PHP (a plus) Strong understanding of CSS frameworks (such as Foundation or Bootstrap) and how they can be used to make web builds more efficient Experience with client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks (ex. jQuery, Angular, React) Experience with JavaScript build tools (ex. grunt, gulp) Experience working with React components and kits (ex. Material-UI or React Suite) Experience working with web-related protocols and architectures (ex. MVC, MVVM, REST APIs, JSON, HTTP) Experience with cloud platforms (ex. MS Azure, AWS) Experience with Xamarin platform (a plus) Experience with developing SaaS applications Experience coding for Android and iOS Experience with single sign-on, session management, user profiles, and user identity and authentication frameworks are a strong plus. Experience with troubleshooting and solving UI application memory and performance issues Ability to strictly adhere to established style guide standards, UI and UX details Comprehensive understanding and implementation of coding best practices Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues, cross-form factor issues, and effective workarounds to solve them. Experience conducting performance tests and quality assurance Experience with Seach Engine Optimization (SEO) and Security standards implementation. Experience using Chrome developer tools Experience working with and updating design systems Experience with Agile/Scrum development practices and concepts Experience using Jira and Confluence Excellent communication and teamwork skills Experience and desire to work within a fast-paced, iterative development environment Experience using prototyping tools (ex.
