Description

IDEAL QUALITIES & WORKING STYLE

Beyond the formal duties, success in this role will heavily depend on how you work. Below are qualities and working styles that we believe “good looks like” in this position – many of which you already exemplify:

  • Self-Driven & Coachable: You’re a self-starter who takes initiative to move projects forward independently, and you also take direction and feedback well when it’s given. In our environment, there’s no micromanagement – we trust you to own your work, but also expect you to embrace guidance to align with client goals and Copurpose standards.
  • User & Client-Focused Communicator: You excel at understanding a client’s needs and translating those requirements into effective design solutions. You make sure the client feels heard throughout the process and truly understands the work being done, avoiding confusing technical jargon. In presentations or updates, you explain design decisions in clear, simple terms that non-technical stakeholders can grasp.
  • Collaborative Team Player: You work well with others and contribute positively to the team dynamic. You know our mission and you’re ready to help the company grow in any way possible. That means being reliable, sharing knowledge, asking for help when needed, and pitching in outside your immediate responsibilities if a teammate could use a hand.
  • Curious Problem-Solver: You aren’t afraid to tinker with new tools or approaches in search of a better solution. When faced with a challenge, you maintain a “figure it out” attitude – you’re willing to dive in, research, experiment, and find a path forward rather than getting stuck. This curiosity and resilience will serve you well in a creative tech role where the answers aren’t always obvious.
  • High Standards & Pride in Work: You take pride in what you create and release into the wild. Every pixel, every line of code, every design mockup - you care about the details and deliverables bearing the Copurpose name. This means you double-check your work, test things thoroughly, and always aim for excellence. We love that you have a thoughtful, craftsman-like approach to design.
Responsibilities

ROLE EXPECTATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

In this Website + Design Manager role, your primary focus will be on creating and managing beautiful, user-friendly websites for Copurpose and our clients. You’ll also contribute to broader design efforts, from refining user experiences to supporting brand identity development. You’ll use outstanding AI tools that will aid your workflows and lead to better outcomes. Below is a breakdown of what you can expect:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Website Design & Maintenance: Design, build, and maintain client websites with a keen eye for clean, modern design and excellent UX. You’ll create engaging, responsive web pages (likely using WordPress/Elementor and similar tools) that align with each brand’s identity. This includes regularly updating content and plugins, fixing bugs, and ensuring sites remain fast and secure.
  • UI/UX Improvement: Continuously improve the user interface and experience of our websites and digital products. You’ll refine layouts, navigation, and interactive elements to make sure our sites are intuitive and accessible. Part of this involves translating client needs into functional, user-centric design decisions that delight users while achieving the project’s goals.
  • Brand Identity Support: Assist in developing and implementing visual brand assets during projects. This means working on elements like logos, color palettes, typography, and style guides in collaboration with our brand strategy team. You’ll ensure that the websites you design are not only visually appealing but also consistent with the client’s broader brand identity and voice.
  • Digital Design Projects: Jump in on various digital design tasks for clients beyond just websites. For example, you may design graphics for social media, email newsletters, online ads, or presentation decks. As needed, you’ll also support the team on internal design needs (e.g. case study layouts, marketing collateral), showcasing your versatility in both web and graphic design.
  • Design Consultant in Brand Development: During brand development projects, you’ll act as a supporting designer alongside our team. This could involve brainstorming visual concepts, producing mockups/prototypes, or polishing final brand assets. It’s a chance to flex your creative muscles in a team setting and learn our brand-building process from the ground up.
  • Project Management & Organization: Manage your tasks and time effectively using ClickUp. We expect you to juggle multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities with ease. You’ll log your hours and progress in ClickUp, keep project boards up to date, and meet deadlines consistently. Staying organized is key – it ensures we can all move quickly when priorities shift (as they often do in agency work) without dropping the ball on anything.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Embrace Copurpose’s culture of open, frequent communication. We believe in “working out loud,” using regular team check-ins to keep everyone aligned. In practice, this means you should proactively communicate on Slack and in meetings about project updates, questions, or any roadblocks. Prompt communication helps avoid delays. Effective collaboration also means giving teammates a heads-up about changes you make.
  • Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement: You are responsible for the quality of the design and web outputs you deliver. Before a site goes live or a design is finalized, you’ll run through checks to make sure everything works and looks as intended. This includes testing pages across devices, clicking every link, verifying forms and email integrations work, ensuring SEO basics and analytics are in place, etc. We have (and will refine) pre-launch and post-launch checklists to maintain high standards – you’ll use these and suggest additions if you see something missing.
