JOB SUMMARY

This position serves to maintain the day-to-day content of the primary DEED external websites (mn.gov/deed) and also serves as the back-up to DEED’s intranet and DEED’s job seeker and employer-facing website (CareerForce.mn.gov). In addition, this position serves as a critical member of the external web team, providing guidance, ideas and implementation on new tools and content.
This position will be based out of the St. Paul office.
This position is telework eligible. Staff are provided with the tools and equipment to be successful in a virtual work environment. Please note, the telework policy could change with notice based on business needs.

Two (2) years* of experience in managing and optimizing various websites across various platforms with a focus on user experience, functionality and content accuracy.

  • Associate’s degree in web design, digital media, graphic design, computer science, or other closely related field as determined by the agency may substitute for six (6) months of experience; bachelor’s degree substitutes for one (1) year of experience.

Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:

  • Knowledge of website standards and best practices sufficient to develop and maintain websites and measure usability.
  • Experience in using web content management systems (e.g. Tridion, SharePoint, Drupal).
  • Ability to translate complex, program-specific language into clear, user-friendly website content by applying plain language standards to ensure messaging is concise and easy to understand.
  • Ability to prioritize a high volume of web updates and requests from across the entire agency.
  • Experience with information architecture and website user experience sufficient to ensure content is organized in a meaningful manner.
  • Experience creating, accessing and utilizing software such as Microsoft Office and other forms tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities (ADA) guidelines, including experience ensuring that websites and documents meet accessibility and usability standards.
  • Skill in digital website analytic tools such as Google Analytics or SiteImprove to manage, analyze, and optimize website performance.
  • Knowledge in additional technology tools such as Trumba (website calendaring program), GovDelivery (mass email distribution tool), Tridion Forms Builder, IntelliStack and ContentDM.
  • Knowledge of HTML coding.
