Weekend and Evening Barn hand
PARDS Therapeutic Centre has a part-time employment opportunity for a motivated individual with the potential for more hours in the future.
Experience working with and around horses is mandatory for this position, and the suitable candidate must have a valid drivers license.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge and experience working with horses
  • A valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation
  • excellent time management
  • A strong work ethic
  • Be self-motivated to work independently
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience operating equipment (side-by-side, skid steer, tractor) Training can be provided for the right candidate.

PARDS Therapeutic Centre is a local non-profit organization located in Grande Prairie, AB offering Equine assisted therapeutic programs and horse boarding services to the Peace Country Region.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Horse care, indoor and outdoor
  • Turning in and out horses
  • Cleaning and prepping stalls
  • Sweeping
  • Feeding hay and grain
  • Harrowing arenas
  • Cleaning pens
  • following a lesson schedule to get horses ready on time
  • directing student and volunteers in the barns
  • maintain a clean work environment
  • tacking and untacking horses

Lesson Support shifts will be Wednesdays and Thursdays 4pm to 8:30pm.
Chore Shifts will be Saturdays AND Sundays. Candidates need to be able to work EVERY weekend. Time off can be requested by following procedures set out in employee policies. Weekend shift are split shifts to accommodate the horses schedule. The hours would be 8am-1pm and 4pm to 7pm Saturday and Sunday.
*Benefits apply for employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week after 3 months of work.
