JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and a strong commitment to providing exceptional care. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of the animals in our care while maintaining a clean and safe environment. This position requires physical stamina and the ability to work effectively in a team.

SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of animal care practices is essential; experience in a kennel, zoo or veterinary setting is preferred.
  • A compassionate attitude towards animals combined with a proactive approach to their care and welfare.
  • Team work and excellent communication at all times.
  • Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and manage large breeds of dogs when necessary.
  • Ability to perform a physcially demanding role for long hours in all weathers, including sunshine, rain, snow etc.

Responsibilities
  • Provide daily care for animals, including feeding and exercising dogs and cats.
  • Maintain cleanliness in kennels, play areas, and surrounding facilities by performing regular cleaning tasks.
  • Monitor animal behaviour and health, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff or management.
  • Assist with customer service duties, including greeting pet owners and providing updates on their pets’ well-being.
  • Laundry and cleaning of communal areas.
  • Bathing and drying dogs and brushing cats.
  • Country walks off site around a set route.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed to protect both animals and staff members.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to animal care and customer service.
  • Reception Duties if required
