Please read carefully before applying. This is not a facility, we do not hire from agencies, and we only hire locally. This is not a cash job; we pay $25/hour, by paycheque, with all required deductions. You must have your own vehicle and a valid driver’s license and have at least 2 covid vaccinations. We require a mature, dependable and experienced caregiver for complex care in our private home.
The patient has advanced ALS, and is fully dependent on caregivers. He is no longer able to speak, and uses a g-tube for feeds and medications. Familiarity with hospital bed, home suction, BiPap, and Cough Assist machines is an asset. We have all necessary equipment and a clean, modern and safe work environment. There is no patient lifting - we have ceiling lifts for transfers. You may assist with personal hygiene, repositioning, and ensuring comfort. Very light housework such as laundry folding and tidying room.
Your job is to monitor the patient’s comfort and and observe during rest/sleep, and reposition as necessary. Use of machines as needed. You will spend most of your time bedside or in the next room, ready to act as needed. You will need to be able to work with nonverbal cues for communication.
We are seeking a compassionate, competent and reliable caregiver. Experience as a nurse or PSW or caregiver is an asset. You must be reliable and available every weekend.
