Job Title: Day Shift Security Officer – Student Accommodation
Location: Exeter
Hours: Weekend Day Shifts
Pay: £12.25 per hour (PAYE employee)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a professional and reliable security officer to provide daytime weekend security services at a student accommodation site in Exeter. This role is perfect for someone looking for part-time work. It is a public-facing position suited to individuals who can deliver excellent customer service while maintaining a safe and secure environment. You will work as a PAYE employee and be part of a supportive on-site team, handling routine security duties and responding to incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Control access to the building, ensuring only authorised individuals enter.
  • Provide a visible and proactive security presence.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the building and surrounding areas.
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, and alarm activations promptly and professionally.
  • Deliver friendly and helpful customer service to residents and visitors.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of daily activities and incidents.
  • Report health & safety concerns, maintenance issues, or security risks.
  • Enforce site policies and support a safe and respectful living environment.
  • Assist with evacuations and follow fire safety protocols when necessary.
  • Liaise with site staff, emergency services, and contractors as required.

Requirements:

  • Valid SIA Licence (required)
  • Previous experience in a security or residential setting preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional, reliable, and confident working independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Basic IT literacy (for logging incidents and using email)

Desirable:

  • First Aid certification
  • Experience working with students or in accommodation settings
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and health & safety procedures
