KVIA-TV -- in beautiful and sunny El Paso/Las Cruces -- is looking for a dynamic Weekend Sports Anchor/MMJ. Candidate will be a go-getter, who breaks stories, asks tough questions, connects with our viewers through emotional and creative storytelling and hits the ground running to provide outstanding local sports coverage. Must be able to create original content, work under tight deadlines and be excellent at anchoring in studio and at live reporting out in the field. In addition to high school and local minor league sports, you will be covering two Division 1 university programs – UTEP and New Mexico State. You will also help shoot for and co-anchor our high school football show “The Borderland Blitz.”     Responsibilities include: * Anchor weekend sports on Saturday and Sunday newscasts – fill-in during week when needed for main sports anchor. * Ability to shoot, write and edit sports stories and segments. * Must be a conversational and dynamic writer. * Deliver sports with ‘pizzazz’ and personality. * Incorporate captivating sound and video into sports segment. * Provide unique digital and social media content to KVIA platforms. * Write sports stories and send out push-alerts for KVIA website and app. * Provide original and exclusive local sports storytelling content that separates us from the competition. * Make public appearances on behalf of the station.   Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred. * Strong on-air presence and excellent communication skills. * Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) and multimedia production tools. * Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced news environment. * Demonstrated knowledge of AP style, news writing principles, and storytelling techniques. * Flexibility to work different shifts and adapt to changing schedules. * Must pass a pre-employment background check, MVR check, drug screening and possess a valid driver license.   Benefits: * Competitive salary commensurate with experience. * Comprehensive insurance plan programs include medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. * Retirement savings plan with employer matching. * Paid time off and holidays. * Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.     How to Apply:   * Please submit your résumé, references, and a link to your work. * You should include a cover letter detailing what skills or experiences separate you from the rest of the candidates. * The position is contingent upon you passing a background screening and drug test.
