JOB SPECIFICATION – WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATOR

Location: Blackpole Recycling Ltd, Unit 100, Blackpole Trading Estate, Worcester, WR3 8TJ
Hours: Full-time (with some flexibility/overtime as required)
Reports to: Operations Director
Salary: £28,000 – £33,000 per annum (dependent on experience and skills, including Skiptrak use)

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Previous experience in a weighbridge, waste management, or transport/logistics environment (preferred but not essential – training provided).
  • Strong IT/data entry skills, with experience of weighbridge or ticketing software (Skiptrak desirable).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication skills, both face-to-face and by phone.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of waste industry Duty of Care, environmental compliance, and Health & Safety (desirable).

Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE

To manage and operate the weighbridge at Blackpole Recycling, ensuring all vehicle movements are accurately recorded in Skiptrak, customers and drivers are dealt with professionally, and compliance with company procedures, environmental regulations, and health & safety standards is maintained.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate the weighbridge system and record data accurately using Skiptrak.
  • Process tickets, delivery notes, and waste transfer documentation in line with legal requirements.
  • Check and verify drivers’ paperwork, permits, and load contents.
  • Provide clear instructions and excellent customer service to drivers and visitors.
  • Maintain accurate records in Skiptrak for reporting and auditing purposes.
  • Liaise with yard staff, transport team, and customer service to ensure smooth site operations.
  • Monitor site traffic flow and enforce health & safety requirements (PPE, site rules, etc.).
  • Handle queries from drivers, customers, and regulators professionally.
  • Report any anomalies, non-conformances, or safety issues immediately.
