We’re looking for a friendly, dependable, and organized teammate who enjoys connecting with people and creating a positive first impression. At the front desk, you’ll greet members, answer questions, and help keep our Rockport facility running smoothly. This is more than a customer service role — it’s an opportunity to build connections, help people navigate their YMCA experience, and play an important role in our community every day. This role can be a great fit for someone looking for meaningful part-time work, including retirees, parents with school-aged children, or anyone who enjoys working with people in a positive community environment. Schedule Saturdays: 6:30 AM – 12:30 PM (Some Saturdays may run longer (2:30) if birthday parties are scheduled.) Weekday Coverage: Occasional evening shifts as needed (typically 1–3 evenings per week, 4:00 PM – 8:15 PM). What You’ll Do Welcome members and guests with warmth and positivity Help members register for programs and navigate their YMCA experience Use systems like Daxko and other tools to assist members (we’ll train you!) Requirements What You’ll Do As part of our Welcome Center team, you’ll help create the friendly, supportive atmosphere that members experience the moment they walk through our doors.Provide excellent service to members, guests, and program participants both in person and over the phone Greet members as they arrive and depart, helping ensure everyone is checked in properly Get to know our members and help them feel connected to the Y and to each other Answer questions, help resolve concerns, and connect members with the right staff when needed Share information about programs and memberships, and help prospective members get started at the Y Process membership payments, program registrations, and other transactions using our system (training provided) Balance and close out your register at the end of your shift Answer calls, take messages, and help route questions to the appropriate team members Check the front desk email and assist with basic member communications Help with simple administrative tasks such as membership mailings or filing Keep the front desk and lobby area clean, organized, and welcoming Work closely with teammates across the organization to keep the Y running smoothly Support other tasks as needed to help serve our members and community What Helps Someone Succeed in This RoleWe’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people and being part of a supportive team.Helpful qualities include:Friendly and positive communication skills Comfort working with people from many different backgrounds and experiences Basic computer skills (email, data entry, and learning new systems) Ability to stay organized and handle multiple tasks during busy times Previous customer service or front desk experience is helpful, but not required — we’re happy to train the right person Work EnvironmentThis role takes place at the Welcome Center in our Rockport facility, where you’ll interact with members, guests, and staff throughout your shift.The position may involve:Using a computer, phone, or point-of-sale system during your shift Sitting, standing, and moving around the Welcome Center area Occasionally lifting or moving small items (generally up to about 10 pounds) The YMCA is committed to creating an inclusive workplace.
