Job Details Job Location: Knoxville, IA 50138 Position Type: Full Time Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: Graveyard (3rd) * Hiring for 1st and 3rd Shifts * SUMMARY 3-4 week training session occurs during 1st shift (M-Th) hours. Once weld training is passed, will move to continue training on the production floor (up to 1 month) prior to moving to the shift hired for (1st shift or 3rd shift). This is a full-time position which consists of on-the-job weld training with a path to become a Welder. Includes working directly with weld instructors and experienced welders within Weiler’s facility to gain skills that are required to be successful as a Production Welder. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Reads and understands measuring devices such as tape measure, weld fillet gauge, level, square, protractor and angle finder. Selects equipment, plans layout and welding according to blueprints, process sheets and welding procedure specifications. Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together. Bolts, clamps, and tack welds parts to secure in position for welding according to blueprints, process sheets and welding procedure specifications. Safely and proficiently sets and operates weld equipment. Finishes grinding applications using manual and power tools. Works safely at all times within Weiler safety guidelines. SUPERVISORY REPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE HS Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Successful completion of an internal weld test at the end of the training program. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to read, write and comprehend documents and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to internal and external individuals and groups. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. ADDITIONAL SKILLS Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several components in variable and standardized situations. Ability to multitask and keep organized. Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives without supervision.
