Building on the foundations of a Welder 1, you will use your intermediate expertise to fuse components with precision, ensuring every weld meets our rigorous safety and quality standards. If you thrive in a hands-on shop environment where your technical skills directly contribute to the creation of high-quality industrial products, this role is for you. Why This Role Matters In our facility, a weld is more than just a joint—it is the backbone of our product’s integrity. By delivering consistent, high-quality welds and accurately interpreting fabrication drawings, you ensure the safety and reliability of the equipment our customers depend on. Your ability to work independently and troubleshoot processes keeps our production line moving and helps us maintain our reputation for excellence. What You’ll Do In this role, you will: Execute Precision Welds: Produce consistent, high-quality hand welds and pass fillet weld tests to meet production requirements. Master the Machinery: Operate and setup welding fixtures and minor machines, including overhead cranes, forklifts, and hydraulic presses. Interpret Technical Specs: Read and interpret fabrication drawings and basic weld symbols, identifying various materials to employ the correct welding process. Optimize Production: Set up fixtures and welders without supervision, following objectives set by the Foreman while maintaining a steady workflow. Maintain Quality Control: Identify acceptable welds and recognize suspected problems within a process, alerting supervisors when necessary to maintain high standards. Utilize Robotics: Perform routine robotic tasks such as TCP (Tool Center Point) checks and wire changes, while assisting with basic machine maintenance. What You Bring You’re a strong candidate if you have: Experience: Proven experience in a welding role (exhibiting all skills of a Welder 1) with an intermediate understanding of the welding trade. Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in setting up welding equipment and the ability to convert fractions to decimals using a chart. Blueprint Literacy: Intermediate knowledge of fabrication drawings and the ability to accurately read weld symbols and measurements. Safety Mindset: A strong commitment to following occupational health and safety policies and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Professionalism: The ability to work with minimal supervision while remaining a dependable, punctual, and adaptable member of the team. What Success Looks Like In this role, you’ll know you’re winning when: Quality: Your welds are consistently accurate, thorough, and pass all required inspections and tests. Productivity: You meet productivity standards and complete tasks in a timely manner without compromising safety. Problem Solving: You proactively identify process issues and work with the team to resolve them before they impact quality. Teamwork: You contribute to a positive team spirit, listening to ideas and supporting your colleagues to reach collective goals. Work Environment This role primarily operates in a dynamic shop setting, where you can expect: Frequent standing, reaching, and handling of materials. Regular lifting and/or moving of items up to 50 lbs. Exposure to a range of temperatures that mirror outdoor conditions, as well as dirt, grease, and oil. A moderate to loud noise environment requiring the use of appropriate safety gear. A steady workflow with very minimal travel required. Why You’ll Love Working Here Craftsmanship: You take home the satisfaction of building tangible, high-quality products every day. Growth: You’ll have opportunities to sharpen your technical skills and expand your knowledge of advanced fabrication and robotics. Stability: Join a dependable team that values consistent attendance and rewards a strong work ethic.
