Description To make weld repairs to defects in castings as identified by inspectors or supervisors which meet quality acceptance criteria. Requirements Basic Math; Basic Reading (SOP’s and Work Instructions; Basic Writing/Data Entry; Welding Expertise (Stick, MIG, TIG). Must pass eye exam if applicable. Make weld repairs to defects in castings which meet quality acceptance levels established for the job on a daily basis. Use overhead bridge cranes and jib cranes to properly position castings for weld repair. Select proper weld wire and electrodes based on identification of base metal alloy. Observe correct procedures for the storage and handling of welding consumables. Perform housekeeping functions as needed to keep work area clean and safe. Occasionally use arc-air equipment to remove gating and risering from castings and to cut-up scrap castings. Complete time sheets as required to accurately record how time is spent during shift.
