Description Operates various hand tools, such as pliers, vice grips, hammers, squares, chisels, and screwdrivers, and power tools, such as grinders, drills, come-a-longs, saws, hydraulic knock-outs, and hydraulic jacks, to fit filter units. Uses TIG welding to put together parts of a filter unit. Reads blueprints to know how to fit metal parts together. Measures and uses math skills to accurately place parts and drill holes. Operates a crane or hand truck to move filter units. Performs minor maintenance on the welding machines. Performs housekeeping duties in the welding area. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Requirements Must successfully pass a AAF TIG Welding test. Must be capable of learning to build any product from a blueprint with minimal assistance. May be required to obtain a crane operator’s license. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Various welding skills are needed. Skill is needed to be able to operate hand and power tools. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Pushes and pulls a hand truck to move metal components. Climbs onto units or scaffolding to perform work as high as 16 feet above the ground. Works behind a protective screen in the metal shop for safety purposes. Must be able to work in or travel through the manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, fumes and dust particles.
Responsibilities
The welder operates various hand and power tools to fit and assemble filter units using TIG welding. They are also responsible for reading blueprints, performing minor maintenance on welding machines, and ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
