Description

We are currently hiring a full-time Welder for a well-established metal fabrication company located in Cobourg. This is an Afternoon shift position with the potential to become permanent after a successful 3-month probationary period.
Start Date: Immediate
Summer Hours: Monday to Thursday, 3.30pm – 2.00am. Training will take place on the Day shift, Monday to Thursday, 5.00am to 3.30pm for one to two weeks at the start of the employment.
Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid welding certification
  • Experience using standard metal fabrication equipment (welders, saws, hand tools, steel cutters); CNC experience is an asset
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety practices
  • Ability to read technical drawings and follow production orders
  • Willingness to work overtime as required
  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in various positions

Responsibilities
  • Operate welding and safety equipment following all health and safety protocols
  • Perform flat and horizontal welding of metal components
  • Start power sources, ignite torches, and strike arcs to complete welds
  • Inspect equipment and materials for defects; report issues to the supervisor
  • Align, clamp, tack-weld, grind, or bolt parts to prepare for welding
  • Operate manual and semi-automatic welding processes, including MIG, flux-cored, and plasma arc welding
  • Monitor welding operations to prevent overheating, warping, or material distortion
  • Measure and examine finished work to ensure it meets specifications
  • Use hand and power tools specific to the welding trade
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders
  • Lay out, align, and secure parts using measurement tools like callipers and rulers
