ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Benchmark International, an Edmonton-based manufacturer with a proud 25-year history, is seeking a skilled Welder/Fitter Apprentice to join our manufacturing team. We specialize in the production of gas separation equipment and environmental monitoring equipment, serving customers worldwide. As a Welder/Fitter Apprentice, you will play a critical role in ensuring the high-quality fabrication and assembly of our products. With a focus on safety, precision, and attention to detail, you will contribute to the successful delivery of our products to meet customer demand. We are on the hunt for a welder/fitter apprentice with TIG and MIG experience to help with fitting and welding in a fabrication shop.

QUALIFICATIONS

Above all else, we are looking for a genuine person who wants to work for a company that cares about its employees and their well-being. It would be great if you had at least some the following qualifications:

  • Qualified to ASME Section IX
  • P1 Steel, MIG and TIG in a metal fabrication shop
  • P8 Stainless MIG and TIG in a metal fabrication shop
  • CSA w47.1 & D1.6
  • Previous related welding experience with cabinets, frames and tanks or similar applications
  • Experience with Metal Core welding
  • CWB certification
  • Experience with Fitting

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Welders at Benchmark are responsible for welding tanks, frames, brackets and enclosures, that are installed in various systems, including our oxygen concentrators. The tanks and frames are a key part of these machines and must meet strict quality certification requirements. The Welder/Fitter Apprentice is responsible for helping to fit tanks and tank heads together for our Pressure Welders to weld. The Welder/Fitter Apprentice is also responsible for TIG welding of various stainless steel components. Your background in welding and fitting greatly aids the Production team and delivers fast and efficient resolution to any issues that may arise. You will work with both heavy and light gauge material. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our products meet the high-quality standards of the company and our customers.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

These are the types of things you can expect to be involved with on a daily basis:

  • Reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine project requirements.
  • Selecting appropriate welding techniques and materials based on the project specifications.
  • Preparing and setting up welding equipment, ensuring proper settings and adjustments for optimal results.
  • Fitting and aligning components according to technical drawings and specifications.
  • Performing welding operations using MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques to join and secure parts.
  • Inspecting completed welds for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
  • Conducting necessary repairs or modifications to welded parts as required.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area and ensuring proper storage of materials and tools.
