Elevation Recruitment’s Skilled Shop Floor Division has been exclusively retained to manage a recruitment campaign for our prestigious client, Spooner Industries, based in Ilkley, Leeds.
Spooner Industries Limited specialise in providing tailored solutions to process industries. They are experts in the use of forced convection technology.
Spooner Industries engineer dryers, ovens, coolers, oxidisers and are environmental solutions across a wide range of industries including paper, converting, metals and food.
Developed in the 1930s by William Spooner, Spooner’s technology has been utilised in all our industrial equipment for many decades. Starting in the textile drying industry Spooner now manufactures efficient process equipment across a wide range of sectors.

With over 160 employees Spooner design, manufacture, commission and install equipment all over the world. The Role: Welder/Fitter
Hourly Rate: £16.81ph
Shifts: Early shift (Monday - Friday 6am- 2.15pm)

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Apprentice-trained in fabrication, welding, or mechanical fitting (or equivalent qualification).
  • Proficient in MIG and TIG welding, particularly on stainless steel.
  • Experience with fabrication, fitting, and assembly of metal components.
  • Some experience with robot welding equipment is beneficial, though training will be provided.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and work to precise specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and develop within the role.
  • Ability to work well in a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
  • Fabricate and assemble metal components in line with precise engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding to a high standard, particularly on stainless steel.
  • Fit fabricated parts into assemblies, ensuring all components meet required specifications.
  • Operate and maintain robotic welding equipment (training available if necessary).
  • Ensure all fabricated and assembled products meet stringent quality and safety standards.
  • Carry out routine checks and maintenance of equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with the team to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment at all times.
  • Proactively suggest and implement improvements in fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations.
