Description Position Summary This position is primarily responsible for welder/fitter duties within the Tool Room, including reading and interpreting blueprints and weld symbols, fitting and welding components without fixtures, and building, repairing, and modifying weld fixtures and gages. In addition, this role will assist the Tool & Die Maker with basic tool room and die-related tasks such as machining support, die disassembly, and general tool room assistance as workload and priorities require. Primary Responsibilities Welder / Fitter (Core Focus) Read and interpret assembly blueprints and all weld symbols. Fit, tack, and weld parts without the use of holding fixtures, utilizing self-made fixtures, layout tables, clamps, and measuring tools Assemble, try out, repair, troubleshoot. and modify weld fixtures and gages Perform rework per company repair procedures Manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality and meeting priorities Work independently on assigned tool room projects Tool & Die Support (Assistant Role) Assist the Tool & Die Maker with drilling, milling, surface grinding, and related machining tasks. Assist in disassemble and reassemble punch press dies and die interchanges. Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 2+ years of manufacturing welding experience or equivalent high school or trade school experience Basic machining experience on one or more of the following: drill press, mill, surface grinder, lathe. Experience or exposure to punch press dies, progressive or hand transfer dies preferred. Certified to internal D.1.1 criteria within 6 months of hire Tig Welding capability desired Strong blueprint reading skills. Proficiency with measurement tools: scale, tape measure, calipers, height gage, micrometers. Basic computer skills and written communication. High attention to detail and quality workmanship. Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities. Must be able to meet physical demands of the position including but not limited to, standing and being able to lift up to 50 lbs. Additional Qualifications Internal 5 or less points at the time of interview 1 or less quality coaching in last 12 months Passing of welder fitter test Pass blueprint reading test Be D.1.1 Certified External Passing of welder fitter test Pass blueprint reading test Good record of employment 2 professional references
