WELDER

Established in 1919, Fort Garry Fire Trucks is Canada’s leading manufacturer of quality fire trucks. Fort Garry Fire Trucks has a full-time employment opportunity for an experienced welder. As a welder at Fort Garry Fire Trucks you will be part of the manufacturing team responsible for preparing, welding and fitting parts for fire trucks, water trucks and septic trucks.

• Reading and interpreting drawings to complete work
• Preparing parts for welding
• Fitting parts either manually or in a jig prior to welding
• Cleaning welds after welding by grinding or other methods
• Understanding materials and selecting proper welding techniques
  Applicant Requirements:
  · Minimum of 1 year of welding experience
  · Fluent spoken and written English and good interpersonal communication skills
  · Legally entitled to work in Manitoba
  · Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds individually or 100 pounds with assistance
  · Ability to stand for long periods of time
  · Proficient using a tape measure
  · Understand the concept of MIG welding versus TIG welding and can identify when and what material to use for each technique
  · Ability to work independently and in a team
  · Reliable transportation: busing is not available at our location
  Assets:
  · Current CWB 47-1 and 47-2 certification, certification will be required within 3 months of hire
  · Preference will be given to qualified applicants who are available to work both the day shift 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the evening shift 4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
