Description Summary/objective We are Jenkins Electric, an electro-mechanical repair company based in Charlotte, NC since 1907. We are seeking an experienced Welder who is responsible for joining metal parts using various welding techniques and equipment. Duties and Responsibilities -Perform welding tasks according to specifications and blueprints -Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, including welding machines, torches, and safety gear. -Inspect welds and workpieces to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. -Form steel, aluminum, and a variety of metals using Roll form, iron worker, and hand tools to achieve fit and form -Inspect molded parts to ensure they meet quality and specification standards and adjust as needed. - Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements and material specifications. -Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, and cutting to ensure proper weed penetration and adherence. -Adhere to safety procedures and protocols, including wearing protective gear and ensuring a safe work environment to prevent injuries and accidents. -Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and make minor repairs as needed to ensure optimal performance. -Managing hot and heavy metal components - Adhere to safety protocols to manage risks associated with elevated temperature and heavy material. Requirements Education And Experience High School Diploma or equivalent Min. of 5 years of experience welding and fabricating a variety of metals such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and cast non-ferrous metal Experience in TIG, MIG, and stick welding is preferred. Proficiency in foundry equipment, safety protocols, and quality control procedures is required. Proficient in mold making, parting, pattern pulling, core placement, gate placement, and riser placement. Ability to use forklifts, wrenches, grinders, drills, bandsaws, and cutoff wheels Demonstrated ability to accurately and efficiently fit components, ensuring squareness and parallelism. Work Environment We're in an industrial setting where teamwork and communication are key. You'll be exposed to loud noises, high temperatures, and some hazardous equipment, so we require the use of safety gear like steel-toed boots and glasses, and strict safety rules apply. Additional Eligibility Requirements Knows safety rules and practices in a manufacturing or industrial place. Easy to train and open to learning on the job from experienced folks. Keeps a positive attitude and gets along well with coworkers. Good attendance record and okay with working extra hours when needed. Team player, positive, and willing to learn and adapt to changes. Can prioritize tasks well. Able to teach new people the basics of foundry work. Physical Requirements Can lift up to 50 pounds.
