Description Description The Welding Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the welding department, prioritizing work assignments based on the supervisor’s directives and aligning welders to appropriate tasks for maximum efficiency, and shipping all curbs ON-TIME. They ensure compliance with processes and maintain a clean, organized work environment, while managing inventory levels and coordinating equipment maintenance. Additionally, the Welding Lead communicates regularly with supply vendors and plant leadership to support logistics, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring that both short- and long-term goals are met. They also collaborate with quality control personnel to address any minor issues that arise during daily operations Essential Functions Prioritizing orders based on the shift supervisor’s priority list Address questions regarding design issues with welder’s Delegate, and deploy welder’s to specific stations, and aligning the right people in the right seat. Assigning work for the applied department based on scheduler Ensure the department maintains a high-level of cleanliness, and organization to promote efficient workflow of product, and materials. Assist with development of process, and procedures. Effectively communicate these standards to direct employees Manage inventory levels that include welding supplies, angle iron, and all weld related items Perform or delegate regular maintenance logs, tasks, of welding machines High-level of communication with welding supply vendors with machine repairs Effective communication with the proper maintenance required for iron worker, shears, press brake, and hood vents to ensure all machines are in proper working order Ensure compliance with processes and procedures by communicating them effectively. Assist with plant leadership in logistics, safety, and continuous improvement, engineering to achieve short/long term goals of CDI, and the plant Partner with Quality control personnel to monitor minor issues with daily workload PERFORMANCE MEASURES Attendance On-time ship Productivity (PSV of Shell & Gut stations) Record keeping of Weld machines, and machines out for repair Inventory levels (no gaps in min/max of materials) Quality of work (Rework Items) Requirements Requirements Position Requirements Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills Ability to interpret 2d/3d prints Ability to measure curbs, and fabricate all parts accurately. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to prioritize work using job schedules and work orders. Team-oriented with the ability to lead and motivate staff. Willingness to learn, and be coachable Effective use of technology–Tablets, computers, printers Demonstrated application of CDI’s core values Strong team player Ability to coach team members, and be coachable by plant leadership
