Oak Ridge Industries provides machining, fabrication and welding solutions to Mid Atlantic industries. Are you an experienced welder or millwright looking for part-time work? Oak Ridge is looking for skilled Millwrights, Pipe Welders, and Structural Welders to join our team. These positions are on a will-call basis based on demand during outages and shutdowns in Eastern North Carolina.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Previous welding experience or a welding certificate from a qualified program.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must be able to read complex blueprints and perform complex mathematical calculations.
• Advanced knowledge of various welding equipment, grinding equipment and hand tools including pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers. Ability to use basic quality inspection equipment including calipers and micrometers.
• Position requires employee to complete OSHA Respiratory Protection Medical Questionnaire Form and evaluated for pulmonary fitness. Both proper training for respirator use and respirator fit tested must be completed prior to first day of employment.

DECISION-MAKING / CONFIDENTIALITY

• Requires continuous mental / visual application. Moderate level of independent judgement and decision making within Company policies to resolve operational problems and to determine manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Limited exposure to confidential data such as product design information and work center rates.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Layout, fit and weld metal parts according to specifications, producing sub-assemblies or assemblies. Must be able to work out of town during plant outages.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow and comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Interprets blueprints and sketches of varying complexity to determine layout and process necessary in assembly of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• Sets up various welding, grinding, and cutting equipment to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Fixtures, assembles and prepares various parts to be joined and secures them according to specifications.
• Works independently to assemble and join sub-assemblies and assemblies to conform to blueprints and drawings.
• Inspects and tests work to ensure compliance to requirements.
• Fills out all required production paperwork and records.
• Maintains work area in clean and safe condition.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
